I think you mean take something from the MPC 1000, pass it over to your computer and tweak?
I would suggest intakt for loops
You can do a lot with just something like CoolEdit (now Audibe Audition) or Wavelab
....

if you mean synthesize new sounds try native instruments(i think that's the name) and even in SoundForge you can synthesize.

Intakt is made by Native Instruments, you'll need Cubase or Tracktion at least to use intakt as a VSTi... but you can trigger it with the MPC1000 if you have midi connection.

SoundForge or CoolEdit are easier though, because you just move your sample over from the MPC1000 thru USB... tweak it and send it back.

REASON IS THE BEST HANDS DOWN. IT'S GOOD THAT I PAID $300 FOR IT AND I WILL NEVER EVERYPAY FOR SOFTWARE WHEN I CAN DOWNLOAD IT FOR FREE BUT I SAID THIS PROGRAM IS SO GOOD THAT I HAVE TO SUPORT IT.

Yeah- Reason is great...or you can pick up a Nord MicroModular CHEAP and have some extra gear that you can use to do synthesis, or even use as an extra effect (MADD Philters) on one of the AUX outs...
