MPC1000 combine with roland vdrums well?

Hey, I am probably getting the mpc1000 soon, I already have the td9 drum kit. I was wondering how well does the td9 kit integrate with the mpc?
For example is it possible to play the beats on the drums instead of the pads on the mpc? and still use the mpc sounds?

I ran a similar set up at my buddies place. He has a Yamaha kit. Works really well.
