Any way to preview a sequence while in load screen?

When I had my 500, I remember having a sample sequenced, and trying to decide which drum hits would go well over it, so I went to the load screen, and I believe if I hit play start, the sequence I recorded would play - either that or I would start the sequence and THEN go to the load screen, I forget. Anyway, while in the load screen the sequence would still play, and I could hit the play button (not play start) and preview the hits I had on my memory card, which helped decide what would sound good over my beat. I can't seem to do this on the 1000. Am I missing something?

On the 500 you go to the load screen (mode>load), then you press play/start and it would play your sequence, then you hit the play button to play the sample you want to load. I'm interested in this aswell regarding the 1000. It's an essential feature for me on the 500.

to my knowledge this can't be done on an mpc1000 [at least not using JJOS1 or the AKAI OS... possibly a later version of JJOS allows this?]
