hey everyone

so I'm thinking I want to get into putting together more intricate drum rhythms, maybe something like photek? obviously not just like him, but I want to have that degree of control over putting my beats together. Do you think I could achieve that level of control with the MPC sequencer?

thanks guys

good food for thought. the advantage of the MPC is that it stands alone I guess...I wouldn't have to get software and integrate my computer into my analog setup. but there's some software that looks pretty awesome, like numerology. I have some time to think about it...I may see if I can rent an MPC from long and mcquade or something for a month.

I mean lots of people have told me how incredible Maschine is, but I don't know if I want to also get a giant library of samples...I'm more into making my own sounds.

Maschine is a sampler, like the MPC. I use my own samples in it for the most part. It does have a very useful library of sounds though like synths, pianos, strings, bass...etc. And it excels at creative sample mangling with all the hands-on controls and crazy effects.
