Phasing out the MPC1000?

Hello. I'm a total newb to everything music so I'll keep this short.

I just picked up a MPC1000 from Guitar Center. It took me sometime because many stores in Los Angeles didn't have any in stock. Two separate salesmen told me that the price was coded for clearance as if the MPC1000 will be replaced. I couldn't Google anything type of rumors about this.

You think it's true?

when i bought my 1000 i was really trying to pick up a 2500, since the GC sales paper had the 2500 listed as $900.. problem was they didnt have any in stock.. and they just received in a new shipment of 1000s so idk about that rumor.. this was about a month or so ago..
