hi

ive tried to sync my mpc1000 with ableton running on a 800 ibook OSX
via a m-audio audiophile.

i use the mpc as the master but ableton although it receives messages from the akai doesnt stay locked in time. it fluctates madly around.

this is a royal pain as it prevents live recording and means i cant even use prerecorded loops with the mpc as it will not stay synced...

anyone had any experience with this sort of setup?
any ideas?

cheers

i think you need to set ableton as the master.

What is your midi interface?

Also... you might try adding one bar of silence if there is an initial jolt before things sync.

No experience with the ibook but I use MPC as my main clock and Ableton syncs up just fine. Mess with the latency settings on your midi interface.

Ditto

You may want to think about a tighter Midi Interface?

Ditto twice

cheers for all the help

i tried ableton as master and it works fine...
trouble is i want the mpc as master so i can sequence midi on it
easily.

got the latest firmware for the akai, ill try that tonight..

you reckon the firewire audiophile isnt good as a midi interface then?
i always thought there was a strong link between ableton and m-audio..
pretty poor if its not up to scratch......

could be the newer drivers i noticed my latency went up 10 ms or so when i installed em but cpu load went down strangely....

can u recommend a decent cheapish midi interface?

thanks again
