EXM128 RAM to Chop ?

Just so you know am new to the mpc, I have just bought the MPC 1000.
And I can't chop anything I have loaded into my mpc 1000. I have tried with very short samples.
So do I need the EXM128 RAM to chop ? even very short samples ?

And how long or short samples can I chop with the MPC 1000 with only 16MB RAM ?

I'm new to the the MPC1000 as well. I had the same problem and I'm sure it is due to lack of memory. I chopped in Audacity (freeware) and dragged the files in to the MPC1000 afterward. This will do for now until I get my memory upgrade.

Upgrade your RAM it's essential

but you don't need to get the expensive EXM128 module, you can get much cheaper RAM that works fine. see the RAM recommendations thread

I thought it was only me with this same prob. I used a 2000 for 11years and just upgraded to the 1000 last week still learning the new stuff.
