Adding repeat/echo to a sample on the MPC1000

I would like to know how to take a sample, eg. kick, snare etc and have it repeat/echo. I've done it before last year on a beat and it was great. I just can't remember how. I opened up all the settings on the beat I used it on last year and try to copy what I had set and it still didn't work. This is a very simple thing and I feel like I hit a brain freeze wall. Can someone help me?

FX type DELAY ?

two options..

the most common is delay...

another option on JJOS you can go to PAD6 (Trim), turn "loop on" the sample you want, then in mode PAD11, F2 (filter), tune the decay(DCY) anywhere from 30-100, press F1 (sample) and switch play mode to "Note On" and you have a nice little delay effect without having to use up one of your effects...

Or use 16 levels velocity and tap out your delay rhythm going down the pads? Sure there is at least another way or two to skin this cat

lol yea ive actually used that method before, just forgot about it.. its also a better alternative to using your delay effect on drums if you multitrack and send your drums outs channels 1-4...

Thanks JosephNicks, I'm good now, I was forgetting to put on "Loop On".

I just wanted to say thank you. I love a delay but I hate using up my FX because I think EQ and compression are almost always my go to...if there are any other shortcuts you can think of that would mimic FX, definitely feel free to share.

how about using all the FX u need to get it thumping right, and then just resampling it?
