Bit Rate,Bytes & Sample rate??

okay i posted earlier that i dl'd some waves into my cf card and uploaded them into the mpc then when i tried to play the sounds only like 5 outta 30 could even play the other said"wrong file".i know they where all wave file now someone said it could be the bit rate.does bytes and sample rate have anything to do with it?now if it is the bit rate is there a way to adjust it?also is there like a bit rate i should stay within so the mpc will actually play....Sorry for all the questions-Joey

You just have to make sure the original file is 16 bit and has a sample rate of 44.1KHz. If either of these things are off, you can use the audio editor of your choice (cool edit, soundforge, peak, spark...just to name a few) and convert it to those specs within the program. As long as the file doesn't have a ton of weird header data (often added by ACID or other programs), it should load just fine. I should add that many people here have used ACID to process samples and have successfully used them.....it was just an example of an audio editor that messes with WAV header data....

The MPC works with 16bit audio - same as conventional audio cd's.
Make sure your samples are 16bit before transfering to the MPC.

I've never investigated what sample rates the MPC plays at - but just leave everything at 44.1kHz because that's usually the standard.

Do you have Quicktime Pro? or any other audio software that can convert audio files? Use that or bounce out of your audio sequencing software in 16bit 44.1kHz.

My MPC1K won't read .wav files bounced straight out of Protools - something to do with digidesign .wav files - Maybe something simialir is happening to you. Just get some software to convert audio files and you should be cool.

That's weird. I bounce .wav files all the time with no problems at all with Pro Tools LE. I have a Digi 001.

cool edit pro for mac or pc...i do have pro tools le (mbox) but just learning it can i do everything in there?-Joey

I've been tryin to use Sound Recorder on my PC for Samples(I have 34gigs of music on my computer). Anyway, the the sample I've tried play faster on the 1k. Could it be because of the sample rate? I'm at work so I cant say if its set to 44.1Khz. Could that be the reason? I know I need to get some real editing software.
