question about ram

whats the real differance between 16mb and 128mb in relation to making a beat.

for example, say i have a 30 second sample in mono and some drums, am i only going to be able to make a beat that lasts 136 seconds?

if someone could please help it would be great.
i don't have an mpc yet but am getting one in 2 weeks and am trying to decide if i can do without the ram upgrade for awhile.

Just to make this SUPER easy for you I'm going to say just get the RAM when you get the MPC and be over with it. Dont buy the Akai RAM, its overpriced. THeres a sticky that has compatible RAM.

It CAN be used with just 16mb but it fills up pretty quick and honestly its useless without the RAM....IMHO.

I just have to say real quick that a lot of the early samplers, including earlier MPC's had even less than 16mb maxxed out. But you can get the full 128MB for $15 on ebay, so there really isn't any reason not too.

what brand of RAM is he shipping.. i ordered from someone similar for $20. same titles advertised as akai exm RAM.. and the stick was IBM.. i wonder how much they are getting these things for.. might be a nice lick if they are getting loads of these for a couple bucks a piece..
