hey, i just got a cheap ugly blue and red mpc1000 off craigslist today. it is gonna need some work. it still needs the pad upgrade, some of the tact switches are finicky, and the data wheel feels like it should be replaced. I am loving the screen over my 500's this thing is so much different then the 500, lol, i can fly threw the 500's menus, guess i gotta figure this beast out.. will someone throw a link up to the manual..

i dont know because i dont have a 500 but i had sequences/programs on my card from 2007 when i switched to jj os and it still saved the sequences/programs but sometimes the volume would be off cuz jjOS starts samples at 100 velocity and i believe akaiOS starts at 70 velocity

At least start using the free version. It's almost the same as the original OS, only with better chopping interface, global program edit and grid edit. Also loading and saving looks better. Way better overview.

What's the best JJOS version totally depends on what u are looking for. Just try them all or check the comparison charts to find out which one of them suits u best.

yo, does the free version have all the features like save and all that? i think i might wanna learn this 1000 first with the akai os, so i can really see what the jjos adds. i like the chopping better then the 500, but it could be improved, i wish there was a cursor that scrolled thew the sample when you play it..

Yeah I think all the versions have improved save/ load mode.

OS2XL has that, it's listed as play marker in the comparison chart. You can do what you want of course, but the 1000 akai os is a waste of time and isn't too much different in functionality than the 500. Once you pick up a version of jjos you'll never look back.

The play marker is a very useful feature.

The sooner you make the jump to JJ the quicker you learn how to get the best from it.
