if i play a beat with a looped sample, and i press note repeat on a ride cymbal for example, the looped sample goes mute until i let go the button.

if the note repeat is on 1/32/3 it goes mute, if it's on 1/8th it doesn't, pretty much goes off on fast taps on note repeat.

has anyone noticed unusual muting on samples on mpc1k?

can some one please try to load up a beat on their mpc 1000 and note repeat on 1/32 (timing correct note value) a few drum sounds and see if your looped sample goes away?

i still got warranty, just bought it 2 weeks ago. i've had os 1.04 all along so that's not it. unless it downloaded with errors. please reply.

aren't you simply experiencing a problem with polyphony?

if you have a stereo drum loop it already takes up 2 voices out of the total 32 available on the mpc1000. If you have a ride cymbal sample with a long decay which is stereo as well... then with the note repeat function you quickly create layers. At the 14th repeat of the cymbal you have reached the polyphony limit of the MPC1000 and your drum loop gets muted. As soon as the first layers stop playing (and polyphony is available again) the loop can be heard again.

Any other guesses?

freezerman, that makes sense. i guess if it's a short sample like a snare or bassdrum it won't do that, i'm used to using note repeat alot in the mpc 2000 xl, and noticed that the xl has more polyphony than the 1000. that's why it never happened to me on the xl.

that's most defenitely it, polyphony, i'll just use small samples to use with note repeat.

thanx.

"xl has more polyphony than the 1000"

I thought they both have 32 voice polyphony.

i thought i read that xl had more poly, turns out that xl has more sequence note capacity, 300,000 for xl, 100,000 for 1k

i'm sure that 100,000 is enough note capacity....

once again thanx 4 replying.
