Trying to change settings by default

Hi all,

I want to set up my MPC1000 so that each time I switch on and hit record, monitor is switched off by default. I keep forgetting and get blasted with feedback. I also want to increase the record time from 10 secs automatically.

Does anyone know how I can do this?
