Hello everyone, Im new to this forum. Ive Got an MPC 1000, When I turn it on it seems to work fine. When I put the CF card in the slot, then turn it on, the screen will only come up as blank and no buttons work???

Does that mean the card is not being read?
Is it the card or the MPC?

This is my dilemma, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Omar

HI
did you format your cf card?

It wont let me get that far. When I turn it on(with the card in the slot), the screen lights up, but its completely Blank. If I turn it on(withOUT card in slot) the screen turns on, I can go mode>load> whatever...but as soon as I put the card in, the screen goes blank???

ok, do you have another cf card - if so does the mpc do the same thing if you put it in ?

how about a card reader for your pc ? Try using the computer to format your card (FAT filesystem), then put it in the mpc and note what happens.

Dont have another card, I might just go buy a new one and see what happens with it.

But now Im looking in the card slot with a flashlight and noticing it looks like one of the prongs inside the MPC is bent, but they are so small its hard to tell.

When you look in the slot, are there supposed to be the same amount of tiny little prongs on the top row as there is on the bottom? It looks as if the top middle prong might be bent, but it kinda looks like its suppoesed to be like that?? I cant tell theyre so small...

yeah you aren't the only person in the past week or so that had that exact problem... you gotta get that card reader opened and straighten out the contact... be careful.

OK Ive got the MPC opened up, Im looking @ the bottom of the card reader board. I took the screws out, now what do I do from here. The card reader is still attached to something that wont let me pull it out...maybe the outlets to the headphone jack/footswitch jack. Are there any instructional videos on how to perform this particular MPC surgery?

So I just need to buy a new one? Can't I just pull the card reader out and bend the contacts back into place like mr_debauch was sayin? Or is this too hard of an operation and the thing just wont werk the same afterwards?

If you get it to work it's probably best to leave the CF card in, instead of risking damaging it further. You can always use the USB mode on the MPC to copy files from the computer.

Can be kind of slow, but depends if you value money over time or the other way around.

Good luck!
