Trouble with "convert to sliced samples"

Hey-
I just started working with the mpc 1000 and updated my software to jjos. I bought a 4g CF card and formatted it. I recorded a sample into the machine, chopped it up and when I went to the edit funtion> (F2) convert to sliced samples to assign each slice to a pad, it tells me that I have insufficient memory. . .
Can anyone help me out?

4gb CF card is not memory (RAM) it is storage memory to save your samples, not to work on them when they are loaded.

how much RAM do you have in your mpc?

how long is the sample you want to chop up?

Thanks man. I'm cutting up a 20 second recording, but I'm sure I'll have more lengthly samples in the future. Do you recommend a RAM card that would be helpful to me?
