Hello chaps , I'm very new to akai and this is my first mpc . Forgive my ignorance if this is a simple procedure however I'm tearing my hair out at the moment with this issue. I've saved various samples over the last 2 weeks and my 32mg card is now full. I tried to save a loop (which took me ages to perfect) and since the card was full I wasn't able to save. I tried deleting samples which seemed to work yet the 'memory available' remained the same. I sent files to my computer through usb then deleted via the computer but mem avail remained the same. Turned the MPC off, still same. Took RAM out and cleaned with eraser (friends suggestion)
AND IT'S STILL THE SAME!!!! Any suggestions would be immesnsely appreciated..... also how can I check which JJ version is running? (another obvious one maybe but hey we all need to start somewhere)

Cheers!

you used an eraser?! your friend is taking the piss

you need to understand the difference between RAM and CF storage
it's the same as a computer's RAM and hard disk.

an analogy I use is memory is the amount of space you have to work with, say like the size of your desk, and disk space is the amount of storage, like how many filing cabinets you have. you could have hundreds of filing cabinets but if you only have a tiny desk you can't put many pieces of paper on the desk at once

deleting things from the CF card does not give you more memory, just like throwing away things in your filing cabinet does not make your desk bigger

Edit: my point being - are you looking at the "memory available" which means RAM available, thinking it means free space on the CF card?

whats a troll??!

I did wonder why he told me to rub the ram but I took his word for it as he's far well advanced with kit than i'll ever be, maybe he assumed it was the ram

It is the CF storage which is the issue I guess, when I go to save mode on the right it says Free- 0.5mb so when I try to save a loop it says 'Card is Full!!!' I tried deleting Programs also but the memory Free still stays at 0.5mb

It came with 128 ram installed and that's all that comes up on the greeting screen also

Really really appreciated your time and advice
