I used up my two midi ins and two midi outs on my MPC. I'm using them to sequence midi events and as well as to trigger midi events. However, no I don't have any ports to link up with ProTools and set my MPC as master.

What are some ways I can go about have an external sound module, an analog synth, and protools all communicate with the MPC with only two midi ports?

2 MIDI ports gives you 32 MIDI channels. Tons enough for most set-ups.
Either use the MIDI THRU ports on your machines to daisy chain equipment together, or if you want to keep latency to an absolute minimum, look out for a multiple thru box on ebay (unless you can find a new one) and this will do a better job.

EDIT: This is the sorta thing

How it works...

.............. ^Daisy chaining^....................... ^ Midi thru unit^

Midi merge does the oppsite and combines many midi connections into one MIDI in port.

i can vouch for those MIDI SOLUTIONS boxes... i have the quadra thru and it works perfectly. they're powered from the MIDI IN, so no batteries or ac adapter is needed... no latency or nothing either. really comes in handy.

Thanks for the tips. It was an easy fix. I actually just used the MIDI thru on my synth to link up with ProTools. Tested it out, and it works. However, I am still (after an entire year) having troubles getting my keystation 88es to communicate with my MPC to trigger sounds out of an external module, whereas my Prophet 08 has no issues with MIDI whatsoever. Although the keystation communicates independently with the module if I hook it up directly. Got any suggestions on what that could be? All setting are correct, but the damn thing just doesn't seem to work "all the time." Only sometimes does it work.
