Hi, I am considering buying an MPC1000. Mainly as a user friendly hardware sequencer for my stage piano, and to make loop-based music (hip hop).

But there is one question to which I cannot find an answer:
Is it possible to record MIDI data and audio data at the same time? Audio data could be: a long sample, or a JJOS audio track. The reason is that I would love to record performances of me playing piano (MIDI) with a singer (audio), without the need to do this in two separate takes.

From reading this forum I understand that it is possible to record a sample (or JJOS audio track) while playing a sequence. But I can imagine that, also for loop based music, it makes sense to record live MIDI data from the pads, and audio from a vocalist. The MPC seems to be the only device which comes close (not considering a PC based set-up, or an expensive multitrack studio type device).

That's unfortunate indeed, but thanks for your answer!
I could hookup a simple (or multitrack) recorder with MIDI sync for this task. On the other hand, that would not be much simpler than using a DAW on my PC :-)
