Midi Clock vs Midi Timecode 25fps

Hi all,

Small question, I've noticed while recording beats out of my MPC1000 configured as Master Midi Clock and sending Midi Clock to Ableton Live that in Midi Clock mode the BPM numbers are constantly moving in Ableton Live, sometimes rendering some weird results.

Yesterday I've tried sending a Midi Time Code instead and the results where really better, a steady 120 bpm in Live and clean audio files. I am recording every MPC tracks in one stereo channel in Live in order to have all the separated elements trough Track Mute solo'ing one track at a time...

My only concern is that one, do i loose the MPC groove while using Midi Time Code instead of Midi Clock as Sync out ? Comparing the audio results i don't think so but i wanna make sure...

Funny but in Midi Time Code, the BPM's in Ableton Live are not moving at all, meaning you fire a 123 BPM sequence on the MPC, Live is steady 120BPM...

I'm loosing my head on syncing these two...

i don't think midi timecoce works like that. i think midi time code usually synch start and stop times. i don't think it's send any mmc or time changes. you could synch it throught midi beat clock and then synch with mtc, but that would be pointless.
you could just change tempo on beforehand?

Yes swapping tempo beforehand works indeed, so i'll stick to MTC which renders very "usable" audio
files in live.. And the groove is there =)
