new MPC1000

Hi All,

I just bought an MPC1000 from ebay, but when it arrived I could not access the mode functions. In fact, the mode button would not light up at all. Also, it seems that the bank a button has the same problem. Am I doing something wrong, or is this machine broken?

Not hard to fix, if you have soldering experience. Do a search. Before you start replacing parts, however, try spraying them with deoxit.

Either way its an easy fix, you can try deoxit but 9 times out of 10 its a dead tact switch. They're cheap components and fail pretty often. Are you handy with a soldering iron? If so its a pretty easy fix for someone with basic soldering and technical skills.

I should say that $650 includes tax as well as the 128mb upgrade and a 160 gb hardrive. But maybe I still overpaid. I am reasonably handy with a soldering iron, but I will try deoxit first.
