Setup:
MPC 1000 midi’d up to Logic. Logic is the sequencer, and I’m programming drum parts / patterns into Logic from the MPC.
Problem:
I’m programming and layering samples in the MPC as I go along, to fit with the music I'm working on. However, when the sequencer is playing, the Program screen is flicking between pads when each note is being triggered by Logic, which makes it physically impossible to edit a pad and the sounds assigned to it, if the sequencer is changing the screen on the MPC to the pad being activated at that time in the sequence.
Obviously, it’s important to be able to create and edit a sound while music is playing, rather than having to stop the sequencer each time, choose the correct pad to edit, change something, then press play again to see if that works.
Is there anyway or ‘freezing’ the current pad selection, so you can edit it while Logic cycles the part, without it constantly selecting the pad triggered in the music?
Is it even possible? Am I missing something obvious here?
Any advice / workaround on this problem would be hugely appreciated.
I’ve had a trawl through pages on the forum and used the search function but can’t see anything which relates to this.
