I moved projects from my computer back on to my flash card and tried to load them. when i do, it acts like it loads everything but it does not load the samples. i tried to load the program and this doesnt work either. in the past i would just load the samples individually after loading the and they would automatically be assigned to the correct pads. Now when i load them and try to play the sequence it might play one sample, sometimes the text where program is becomes something like s&^(djhf&(*&386r983 ... I have all the files but can't get them to load, i even tried reformatting card and dumping projects back on it but this didnt work either...any suggestions????!!!

where are these project files made ??? ON the MPC? from what i can gether you are copying projects off MPC onto your computer, then copying them back to MPC card, and loading them on MPC?? if this is the case then the project file needs programme file and samples copied with it. looks like corrupted file or a project file not made with your MPC

After loading the project, try loading the whole folder (change 'replace same files' to NO). That usually works for me.

loading the folder seems to work, everything loads, but when i press play nothing happens, the samples are loaded so is the sequence but no sound, if i press pad where samples are assigned they play, but not when i play the sequence....

when saving... save ENTIRE MEMORY into a new folder.

when you load, select the entire folder and load.

if you don't bother naming your programs & sequences, pressing the CLEAR option every time you load is a MUST. if you don't press CLEAR, the default [blank] program01 will stay in memory without any samples assigned to it.

So you were able to get all the programs and samples to load, but now something is wrong with the sequences? Does the same happen for all your projects? Did you check in the step editor to see if all the MIDI notes are there? Try recreating the sequence, saving the project into a different folder, and reloading that.

the sequence loads and everything looks good, but when i try to play it nothing happens. didnt check the step editor, it is doing this on all the folders/beats on my memory card that i dumped from computer, i will check step editor, cant really redo sequences exactly so i kind of want the originals, i will try to load everything then resave and see if that works...i havent had this problem before at least not on all the projects...usually one project wont load samples and i just do it manually, never had problem with the actual sequence though

i dont really use step edit, but it looks like there are notes or whatever that are in there and should be played, it will have the pad and time i guess listed there for each track, so there is something there, not sure why it wont play anything though

also, i back up beats on external hard drive, in this case i dumped them from hard drive to usb jump drive, then later moved them from jump drive to mpc card, maybe this has something to do with it? usually i just go from hard drive onto mpc card, but i was travelling and didnt want to bring hard drive so i put them on a jump drive

resaving doesnt really help, if i mess around with how i load stuff i can get like half the sequence to play, it might play 2 out of however many samples

yeah the loading folder at least loads the samples and everything, but when i press play nothing happens, it loads the sequence because i see the tempo change and all the tracks

Just as a general tip, when requesting help with this sort of problem, you need to be as thorough and detailed as possible.

For example, in the step editor, did you check to see that the velocity and length of the notes was not zero or very small? What EXACTLY happens when you re-record a sequence by erasing what's there and recording it over again? Did you verify that the right programs are assigned to the right tracks? Have you tried loading completely unrelated programs and/or samples and seeing if you can get the broken sequences to play them? If you have other MIDI gear, have you tried using MIDI out to see if the broken sequences would trigger them? Have you tried starting a new project from scratch and saving/backing up/reformatting/reloading that? And so on...

At the end of the day, your files probably got corrupted in the transfer to/from your computer... But I've done that probably 15 times and I haven't had one problem. So unless you meticulously test and verify that, you'll never know what you're up against... And that also means that you are running the risk of losing future work, if you don't get meticulous and find out exactly what happened. So you need to do stuff like create a new project, save it to your flash card, back it up on your computer, reload it back onto your flash card and see if it works. You may need a new flash card... You see where I'm going? It could be something wrong with your computer or OS installation. It could be the MPC Load bug (the one that JJ fixed early on). It could be any of a million things.

so i got one project where it will play one of the samples in the sequence, i tried to re record a kick just to see what happens, after i record the kicks, when i go to play the sequence back there are no kicks, it looks like the time and velocity of events are not zero, i can see what i just recorded in step editor but nothing plays back, im pretty sure tracks are assigned to right program, program1...not sure why if the file is corrupted it wouldnt playback something i just recorded. also i dont have any other midi, i use mpc by itself
