Can't speak directly for corx, but I cut squares out of a record cover and used double sided tape to stick them to the sensor board. Others have used various materials, someone even molded silicone onto the bottom of their pads. The issue is that (for the new style pads) there's a small gap between the bottom of the rubber pads themselves and the pad sensor board. Makes a huge difference.
Corx (or the homebrew solutions) don't work with the old style pads.

My advice: check to see if you have the new style pads first.
- The easiest and fastest way to check is by wiggling one pad from side to side, if the other pads move, you have the new style pads. If not, you don't.
- the most reliable way to check is to take the top cover off. the old style pads are 16 individual units, the new style is a one-piece design.
If you have the old style pads:
1. get the new ones if you can find them (try calling mpcstuff.com) and
2. get corx (or do a homebrew solution like above).
If you have the new style pads then proceed to step 2.
