MPC1000

I seem to be having a problem. I hooked my yamaha DGX-200 up to my MPC-1000, but my keyboard sounds are not playing on my MPC1000 or the same speaker my MPC1000 is playing through. Can someone please help me?

hmm, one post huh? I guess you don't have them hooked up through a mixer to the same speakers.

Thanx for responding. So, is this the only way you can get the two to play through the same speaker. I guess the only reason I am trying to find out is because I can't tell if the music from the keyboard needs to be mixed down or if it is to loud or something.

its the best way, there are other ways, be inventive.

Dude, You are going to get hammered here if you are a complete beginner without any info. I think if you explain exactly how you are hooking up these devices, it would make it easier for someone to help you. Are you using the MIDI ports? Are you trying to run audio thru the MPC1000? Do you in fact have a mixer or multitrack recorder or even a PC etc. bla bla bla?

I have the two hooked up using the MIDI ports and the MPC 1000 to my PC.

I think what the other folks are trying to say is: we need to know what you are trying to do here. The MPC1000 is flexible and there is no "right way" of working, you just need to break it down, get your setup working piece-by-piece, and we'll help with what we can.

I'm keeping a MPC1000 FAQ on my site - see below. Of course, after you read that, you will have even more questions, but that's cool if you keep it logical.

Example: if you want to use the DGX to play samples from the MPC1000 via MIDI, that works, but there are special tricks to use to play melodic samples, which I've written about and posted PGMs for. When you hook up both MIDI cables, you are at risk of duplicate notes when you play the DGX, so turn off the MPC's "Soft Thru" in a simple setup.

(I've heard the DGX series piano, I can safely say you won't need to use piano samples unless you're really picky - it is slightly awesome.)
