I've been working with my 1000 for about two years now with minimal problems. Recently, when I save a program and try to load it after the machine has been turned off and back on again, it says: "UNKNOWN FILE" or "FILE NOT FOUND" and will not Load the program.. Mind you this isn't with every program, but it seems like select programs. I have a new 4gb compact flash card in there and I know that before when the flash card is filled up it wouldn't be able to save the program.
It's pretty frustrating to work on a track till 4am, then the next day trying to load it up and the drums wont load because the the program says "FILE NOT FOUND".. The strange thing is all the samples are still in the machine when i look under "All Samples". and the other strange thing is if I save the program and load it while the machine is On, it will Load NO PROBLEM.. But it's as soon as I turn off the machine the turn it back on I run into this Problem!
If any one has and answers or can help i would greatly appreciate it!!
Thanks in advance..

you want to save every new project you make into a new folder... when you save, save ENTIRE MEMORY into that new folder you just created... and then when you load it later, make sure to use the CLEAR option when loading...

by the way are you the real smear or just a fan?

What OS are you running? This sounds like the save bug that Akai never fixed. As far as your current work, I'm not sure there's a way to recover it, but you can prevent the problem again by loading JJ OS 3.12 (its free) and re-formatting your media.

Crossings: seems like the procedure I've been doing for the most part. I'm unsure about loading it with the CLEAR option? But other than that, I save the entire memory to a new folder. And yes, I am the "real" Smear.. Not sure if there is another Smear you may be thinking of? check my links..

Mp3: I have the original OS.. I've tried to download the JJ off the site, but Once it's downloaded the .bin package doesn't unzip on my Mac. Unless I am supposed to just drop it "as is" into the the mpc, turn it off then hold the window button when i restart it?
