Hey guys

I was just wondering if anyone successfully synced Ableton Live with the MPC1000? For some reason I can't get it right. I sync Live up as slave, works fine for a while but after like 1 minute I start hearing that the beat is a bit off: Live doesn't keep the tempo, and it's not as tight as it was when I pressed play.

I also noticed that Live doesn't get the exact BPM, but tries to measure it, resulting in lower, higher BPMs usually. Is there a way to have the MPC "send" live the exactl BPM and start/stop values?

Help is appreciated

Thankses,

Ivan

Yo, I experienced the same problem with my MPK49...having trouble with the BPM. I tried to sync Live with my MPC 1000 thru my MPK49 also and got frusturated and haven't tried since....sorry no help here but I feel your pain.

The clock on the 1000 has a natural sway to it. Thats why you will see the tempo in Live change. Nothing you can really do about. The clock on the 2000xl is worse.

Try syncing with MTC instead of midi clock. Setup your mpc to output MTC and Ableton to receive MTC at 30 frames. Ableton and the mpc won't be timesynced so you have to match the bpm's manually. So this won't be very usefull if your dealing with tempo changes. But if you're not then Ableton and your MPC will be perfectly synced without any drift ! (Might wanna tweak latency comp)

Keep in mind that you CAN change the tempo of Ableton when externally synced with MTC alltough the tempo is grayed out. That got me fooled in the beginning.
