Maximum chops allow onto Pads

Hey Guys I apologize if this was mentioned beforehand, but I really couldn't find the thread. If there is one, if you could just direct me to it. . .

So my problem is...I have chopped roughly 150 or so chops. I have almost all of the chops that I wish to put onto pads already on pads, but when I go to place more chops onto pads it will not let me go past a certain number, although there are more chops in "TRIM" mode.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Simply. I have chops in trim mode that I can't put onto pads. I get to a certain number roughly chop # 140 and the mp won't allow me to put more chops (that I already have in trim mode) onto the pads in program mode.

WTF 140 chops!! what on earth for? i go up to 16 for a 1 or 2 bar beat. so i cant see how ya would need 140 friggin chops, thats hella overkill IMO.

Ok Akai os on mpc1000 goes up to 64 chops for a reason. Simply that there are 4 banks of 16 pads. 4x16=64
so when you chop a sample and make a program of the said sample with all the chops and assaign the chopped sample to each and every pad, you can only fit 64. Do you understand what im saying?

so you must be importing the sample prechopped from DAW I'm guessing. o and crusher seems to be just trolling you, as he cant answer question from your first post like i can. Hope this answers your Q?

you need to put the other chops in another program, put the new pgm on a different track
you will then have to switch between tracks to play the sounds from the different pgms.

if im sampling an "instrument" rather than an "idea" i can sometimes go over 64 chops . by the time the track is finished though a lot of the chops arent used , but you can end up using hits that are quite seprated from one another in the original sample.

for a sample the size of the one your talking about i suggest cut into 2 or 3 to start with, that way you dont have to manually assign all the extra chops.

Just Blaze said he had 96 "chops" for Song Cry. I don't know if he used all of them, but he his MPC PGM setup that way. It's in one of the interviews where he was pissed at the old Akai OS for the MPC 5000.

yeah for sure, i can see that you use another program or two and thats a good work around, and use another track instead of program change just to be lazy. I do use more than one program and full programs but im also used to old samplers.........meaning i cry with joy at more than a few seconds of sampling.....all good. Exept Akai os crashing like crazy when i chop stereo samples up, bugs the hell out and goes all matrix style and its another reboot. so JJos time of course

JJOS is a godsend. I was all good with the Akai OS until for some reason a 30 second sample took like 6 minutes to process into slices. I kept trying day after day and resampling but it still would take forever.

Loaded up the JJOS and it processed in about 1 second.

really, i did not realize that it made chopshop ran that much better. i can make a coffee usually it takes so long
