different time signatures

im primarily makine hip hop beats, maybe i'll experiment with other styles in the future...

has anyone sucessfully made any 6/4 sequences?
i was playing with this time the other day it sounded akward, maybe i never did it right. i rhyme too, so i kept getting physced out by the 5th beat, i would naturally think the bar ended on the 5th. i got used to it in no time, but it was crazy

i have a sample, a guitar riff my friend laid out for me, its all done in 6/4 time, and i want to ad drums. i can at the drums evenly in 6 beats across a bar, but it doesn't sound right, you get physed out

maybe i'll just chop up the riff and play with it a little more.

6/4 and 3/4 are different

3/4 time has a

*1-2-3
*1-2-3

feel. When playing 6/4 in a band, many count the bars in 2/4 time, 1-2, 2-2, 3-2, 4-2, etc. 6/4 feels closer to 2/4 time than 3/4.

3/4 has more of the waltzy feel.

Stephen, that rhythm sounds more like 6/8 to me, with the emphasis being on the 1 and the 4....
If anyone has heard "Take Five" by Dave Brubeck, then that is in 5/4. Use that as a starting point to hear how it skips along and then simply add another beat on for your 6/4 track.
