Save to RAM or CF-card?

Hi, i have wondered about something for some time now. When i sample something does it save into the CF-card or the RAM? When i plug my mpc in the pc i can´t see the samples but they are there when i unplug it again. I think thats kind of wierd.

How much space is there on the RAM and the CF-card together? If you could answer in hours, minutes and seconds that would be great. I know it depends on many different things, but lets say that its just ordinary sound without any effects or anything on it.

Don´t think i am a moron now. I am a newbie to this and i really do not have any computerskills at all.

You have read the manual, haven't you?

Your samples stay in RAM only, until you:
a) save them to the CF card (or hard drive) - only then they are safe.

Or

b) switch the power off. Then it's bye-bye to your unsaved samples.

If you don't know how to save, start to study it now. It really is the first thing to learn. You might also consider upgrading to JJ OS free - it has an improved (=easier to use) Save/Load mode.

that depends how much RAM you have and how big your CF card is

c'mon now, you don't need to be an expert to figure that much out

I know, the question is kind of stupid. But i don´t know anything about computers and stuff. The reason i asked this question here is becouse maybe there is some difference between Mpcs and PC/Mac.

The answers i got was what i thought. Its saved on the cf-card. I was kind of worried that the RAM was gonna be slow or something.

I have the usual EXM-128 Akai Ram, and i have a Transcend 1 Gb Cf-card.
