Hey, anyone got any old MPC 1000 single pads laying around?

My friend just bought a 1k used off a guy who swore it had the new pads... I talked to him personally on the phone, but was unable to go with my friend when he went to go pick it up. Initially, the seller wasn't sure if it had the new pads or not... and he was at work, so I told him to do the "wiggle test" when he gets home. A few hours go by, and I get a text from him... and he's totally freaking out, saying that they ARE indeed the new pads, but he wiggled the pad too hard and it ripped... and now he's screwed because it costs 200 dollars to fix! blah blah blah...

Long story short, he drops the price even more, and it's only gonna cost 25 for a new 16-pad sheet... so my friend goes to pick it up yesterday, and tells me later that he thinks it has the old pads... and one is missing. WTF!?

He can't afford the full pad upgrade right now... and now I feel kinda guilty because I hooked up the deal for him, and encouraged him to snatch it up. Now he's got the old pad set, and a missing pad. Yeah, yeah... I know, I know.. he should have done his homework, and he learned a lesson. But I offered to take care of everything for him, and now feel somewhat responsible for fixing this.

So just wondering if anybody has upgraded to the new pads, and do you still have any old-style single pads and sensors laying around, rotting away? If so, let's try and work something out... That would be sweet.

Sorry no pads.. But my advice would be to try and return it to the guy and ask for your money back.

He said it had new pads... but it doesn't. He wrongfully sold it to your friend.

If this fails, he should use it as a learning curve, bite the bullet and borrow the money for the upgrade kit.
And if this isn't possible, then will just have to work around the pad. I've got a few dead ones on mine but not got around to the upgrade kit (I will soon), I just learnt not to use those ones!

Thanks for the reply, someone hit me up on the PM, so might work something out with him... but he's in Europe, so might not be worth it after shipping..

But yeah, I called the seller personally and told him that I didn't feel that he held up his end of the bargain. He apologized and offered to give 50 dollars back, but my friend felt kinda bad, he said the kid was pretty nice, so he took 20 bucks and a 2 gig cf card, and called it square. I believe it was an honest mistake, and homeboy listened to my gripe and responded in an honorable manner... no harm, no foul. After all was said and done, in the end, still not a bad deal for a 1k, dreaded "old pads" or not...

$440 USD for a black 1k with the JJOS OS2XL, 128mb, 2gig CF card. He's cool with it.
