Wassup? I am sure this has been asked before but can I use my Akai CDs with the 1000. I know it's not supposed to be compatible with the CDs but can I convert them or something on my compute. Anyway just looking for some wicked kits to phoq with untill i am advanced enough to program my own. Thanks in advance to all that reply. This site is dope and I plan to be helpful in the future. Peace, Skillz

okay guys i apologize if i've upset anyone and maybe you can't use these cd's at all but i figure there's gotta be a way. maybe not the kits but what about the sounds? mine are now in simplesound format after being converted from soft sample cell awhile back. couldn't i convert these to .wav and use them?

The MPC1000 uses 16bit 44.1kHz .wav files as its sample format. It will load and play these files.

It is a fair question about whether or not standard wave files can be loaded. The manual and website only give compatibility specifications of the MPC1000 with other Akai products. They should probably write that the wav format is the sample format used by the MPC1000.

I've used Native Instruments Battery: load the Akai CD, save as a Battery KIT. That gave me all the samples as WAVs, but I had to check the WAV format (convert to 16-bit 44k), port to the MPC, and assemble the Program(s) manually.
There are also 3rd party programs such as Chicken Systems Translator, but nothing I know of that converts to the MPC1000 PGM format (to keep sample layouts). Or just go http://www.google.com/search?q=akai+sam ... AV+convert
This is not really covered in the manual, so no-one minds you asking, surely..?

LOL i have CDXtract too

i was wondering how the **** you didnt know about this program

you can load AKAI discs, then whether just extract WAV files out of it, or choose another output format, such as :
- SOundfont
- Giga file
- Akai 5000/6000
- Pulsar STS
- Reaktor Map
- Halion
- EXS24
- Kurzweil
- VSampler2
- NNXT
- Mesa
- Kontakt
- Battery

And i bet on a MPC1000/2000 support on a future upgrade
