I have midi set up with the R3 and MPC1000. The MPC is the master. I use to the MPC as a sequencer. My issue is when I play melodies on the R3 I am unable to hear them being played back. When I change the program on the MPC to an instrument based program I have loaded (i.e piano ) I am able to hear the melody I have recorded. The midi setup seems to be working as evidence of the data being sent to other programs and the tempo from MPC.
This set up has worked fine for me in the past, but it is no rhyme or reason why sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes I may shut the Korg off and when it boots up again it doesnt work, although no settings have been changed. After a week it will work again.
I initially thought it may be a memory issue with the MPC b/c I had too many programs and sequences loaded. I would reboot the MPC and find the same problem.
my setup is this
R3 midi out - MPC midi in
MPC midi out - R3 midi in
Both using the same Midi Ch
Active track receive channel ALL
I'm using the original Akai OS
Both units hooked to a mixer interface
