MPC Mac connection

Hello Everyone,
Recently bought my first MPC from ebay it's a 1000. I'm now thinking I bit off more than I can chew.

The person I purchased the MPC from wiped the hard drive clean, even the original samples.

I have downloaded the original samples but cannot get my Mac to recognize the MPC in order to load the tracks. I believe the MPC is operating on JJOS 3.###. What is the trick to getting it to be link up?

Go to the LOAD/SAVE option under pad 2.

From there use the function keys under the screen to select USB.

Then select the MOUNT option.

All should work... as the screen points out, don't forget to use the EJECT option from the Mac before you unplug ze cable.

Slowly but surely working through the manual.




The button to eject the flash is busted and it seems like the pads are not working correctly.

Thinking of switching back to the standard joss.

Thoughts?

3.12 is the standard, free version of jjos. I would think you'd need to upgrade the pads, but they're red so it looks like it's already been done.

Okay, so I'm thinking there is something wrong with the sensitivity of the pads.
A few problems with my pads
1) They need to be struck forcefully
2) If you hold them down for the full sample, the sample starts to skip freak etc

The chasis is bent, am I wrong to assume someone just hammered on this thing which resulted in the bent chasis and the messed pads?

that blue 1k looks kinda good with red pads

well, its blue with red pads so it may have the updated pads. Between that and the JJOS you may need to adjust pad sensitivity. Now as far as the eject button, just make sure the pins inside that slot arent bent too.

Somebody probably dropped it. If you really, really need to smash on em to barely get anything I'd look at the pads. A good indicator is inconsistency between pads. If some of em work better than others then that's a red flag. Make sure you have it on full level when testing too. It honestly doesn't hurt to just take the cover off and check it out though. As for the skipping, apparently it only happens with the free version but I haven't had a problem since before I can remember. It might be in the technique. Just set samples to one-shot so you don't have to hold em down. But for instance my bass sounds don't skip at all and those are strictly note-on. So yeah...

Okay you guys are really cool and thank you for being patient with the noob.

I read a little of the manual and mess with it every night. Last night I got into individual pad velocity. My machine still plays certain pads crazy, it's like machine gun kick drum etc.

I didn't pay full price but I did pay a good sum of money. Ebay add says perfect condition, not the case. It is possible to live with the broken eject button and missing screws, but I'm not keen on the bent chasis and broken/nonfunctioning pads.

Make sure for each pad it's set to play as "One Shot" and not "Note On" for those drum sounds otherwise you can get a strange machine-gun effect as you say.

1. On the main screen scroll down to the Pgm:Program01 option and press the Window button (the bright orange one).

2. From here select the sound you want by pressing the corresponding pad.

3. On the left should be the pad name, and each of 4 possible samples should be listed next to that. Highlight the troublesome one that seems to have the machine-gun effect, and again press the Window button.

4. Here you should be at a screen that says Play Mode, and then has each layer listed. From here you can choose:

One Shot- play the whole sample from start to finish

or

Note On- this plays the sample for as long as you hold the pad down

For drum sounds choose the One Shot option.
