Hello all, I am buying an upgraded MPC 1000 tonight for $600 bucks that apparently has been upgraded to 128mb RAM and 8gig memory card. Sounds great to me but how do I check to make sure that this thing has actually been upgraded? I assume the memory card is easy to pull out and inspect- am I wrong? What about the RAM? Also, it's the blue MPC 1000- I don't know if that makes any difference or not.
Thanks for your help,
Daniel

blue mpc does make a difference, if the pads have not been upgraded then this is totally bad deal, there is really no way of telling unless you take the cover off, but there are couple signs to look for...one is are the pads color grey? if they are chances are it's an old unit needing pad upgrade, another way try to move the pad around and observe the pads next to it and see if they move along as you moving the pad. because old style pads are individual pieces of rubber while upgraded set is all one pad sheet...also 600 is steep even if it has the pad upgrade...average second hand price is 400-550 for fully upgrade unit.

as typo said at boot up it will tell you if it has 128mb of ram intalled, you can check if the hard disk is installed from the load/save menu. check if all pads work, and buttons, tact switches tend to wear out on these, also I would make sure all outs work and record in...i have bought mpc previously with blown record in input.
