Strange MPC Problem - Screen and Pads

My MPC only works intermittently. Most of the time I turn it on, these weird bars keep running down the screen (like an old antennae TV with bad signal). I have to adjust the contrast strangely just to see, and all of the pads stop working. Sometimes it just snaps out of it and works fine. I already reinstalled JJOS 3.12. Is this a common problem? I can't seem to find anything out there about it.

that´s no common problem.
but you could try some common things (as suggested many times on these forums...use the search function) to fix your machine.

some suggestions:

- take out the ram expansion
- open your mpc up and look for damaged/loose cables
- reinstall the akai os /turn the machine on while pressing and holding the erase button (look at jj´s site for more information)
- remove the cf card (could be some bend pins inside the card reader)

Thanks for the advice. Ended up being a loose wire that was easily fixable for now.

this is exactly what is going on with mine as soon as i powered it up after putting in the new pad upgrade with the metal frame thing and all that. it worked okay before. i'll have to take it back apart and see where i messed up.
