DIRECTORY ERROR!!!

ok so ive had the mpc nearly two months now and now when i go to save somthing, usually either a sample or a sequence, i get a message that pops up and says DIRECTORY ERROR! this happens about every other time i try and save somthing and it really sucks because if this happens then there is no way to save whatever i have been working on so the mpc is basically usless. does anyone know what the **** might be wrong with my mpc? please anything....

whatup man is that boston area 617 ? Anyway that ish happens b/c the folder you are saving to is full. Create a new folder and you should be able to save. To prevent it from happening make sure you purge your programs if you loaded a ton of samples that way you don't have double copies laying around. you should be str8 now-peace

yea its the same boston area code but i live right out of boston. thanks for clearin that stuff up for me i was about to return it... do you know how much stuff you can possibly put in one folder? right now i aint even using folders cause i cant open a folder in the mpc without loading every single file in that folder...

thanks stephen i read the manual but i must have missed that part or just misunderstood it. thanks to all of you who helped cause without you i would have probly sent it in for repairs.

I usually start with a clear memory then pick sounds you have already or sample new ones. Make a program and go to work. The when your done messin around and want to save. Save the program in a seperate folder than the sequences. There are other ways to do it but I lose less tuff when I do it this way. Make sure you PURGE your programs before you save. That way only the samples you used load up and you won't run into that problem anymore hope that helps that ish used to piss me off too.

alright thanks. i just figured how to get into other folders that i created. i feel absolutley retarted all i had to do was highlight the folder and hit the right arrow. i was thinkin of having 1 folder for sequences and 1 for programs and 1 for drum samples and so on... is this how you do it?

I've found the best way to set up the card is to have a folder for Programs and a folder for Songs.

Programs
Program 1
Program 2
Program 3
...
Songs
Song 1
Song 2
Song 3
...

Load up some programs from folders inside the main Program folder, then when you have some nice beats, create a new folder inside the Songs folder and "Save All Memory" into that new folder. Then after you turn off the MPC and come back, you can just load that one folder and it'll load up all your sequences, songs, programs, effects, etc..

i have been making programs. saving them to a programs folder -- then after making sequences and a song i save that to a Songs folder. Any tweaking I do to a song from then on I make sure I resave everything. For instance if I tune a kick drum higher in a program then i resave that program. Once I am ready to call it a day before shutting the mpc I Save entire memory -- Project... I was mad confused at first but it is starting to get more clear.
