Using the mpc as an mpd with logic

Guys, Im really sorry if this has been mentioned already, I couldnt seem to find out anywhere!!!!

Basically, I was wondering if I could use My mpc 1000 as a Midi Controller in logic, eg, as an mpd series (to trigger software instruments in logic pro Ive got an m audio keyrig 49, and all i have to do is connect it, via midi to usb cable, to my macbook, and i can trigger logic instruments, I tried to do the same via the mpc, but nothing was being triggered!!!, Is there settings i have to change, or is this simply not possible

It is possible, you just need to mess with the MIDI settings... I don't use Logic so I can't tell you more, but I used my 1K with FL sometimes...

You're gonna need a separate USB to MIDI adapter and 2 standard MIDI cables. What you want is totally doable with the right cabling. I get the sense you tried to use the 1000's USB for MIDI, but that port only does data in sync mode.

Plug the USB into the Mac, then a MIDI cable from the MPC's MIDI out to the interface's MIDI in. Then a MIDI cable from the MPC's MIDI in to the interface's MIDI out. Set the MPC to MIDI out 1A (or other channels if your want different AU's in Logic to respond on different MIDI channels). Choose the USB/MIDI interface as your MIDI controller in Logic's preferences. (It will list the interface, not the MPC).

If you're on JJOS you pads will already be chromatically laid out starting at MIDI note 36 (same as most AU/VST). If you don't have JJOS, your MPC likely has a General MIDI arrangement where the pad's MIDI notes are not in order, you'd then have to manually edit each pad's MIDI note from pad A1 (MIDI note 36) to D16 (MIDI note 99).

It's really worth doing, the MPC's velocity response and overall feel is superior to most USB MIDI controllers. (Well if you put Fat Pads in that 1000 that is )

Thanks for your help bro, I allready had the midi to audio interface, I was just confused with the settings in the mpc, your post really helped me man, Now Im using my mpc as a Midi controller in logic,
