how do you assign the bass to 16 pads?

THe Bass?? What bass?? What I am really asking is that you could be a bit more specific.
Did you mean how do i assign a sample to a pad? Or 16 Levels of pitch to 16 pads?
RTFM is the short answer. What you want for the first instance is to use program window to assign sample to pad and also pitch as well
16 Levels of tune can be done but sample must be loaded and in program used. then hit 16 levels button and choose sample and pitch.

sorry, i don't know how to explain specifically, i just want to sample a bass note and assign them to 16 pads/levels how ever you call it

Once you've made a program with a bass sample on one of the pads, press the '16 levels' button above the data wheel.
In the new screen, set the 'Pad: ' to the pad number the sample is on.
Change the 'Type: ' to Tune (originally on velocity).

For the 'Original key pad: ' I usually select pad 13 so I have a reasonable amount of notes to play with up and down.

Because i read his first post and then posted reply and later the post was edited, and yeah i only know cos i remembered, so no indication that he changed his first post, but meh

Yes, the 16 levels function. Use and check on that.

If you want to have more control over each note individually you can also assign the same bass sample to 16(or 32) pads in pitch them up and/or down individually.

If you have JJOS then INST programmes are the way to go. 'Specially if you have a midi keyboard.
