question about recording through analog inputs

Hi,

I've recently acquired a BK mpc1000 with the latest Akai OS. It's a great machine! Although it's a easy to understand machine I have a question about recording through the analog inputs.

I want to record a sample of me playing guitar, through the analog inputs. Is it possible to listen to the mpc1000 built in metronome during recording? If so how? Or do I need to upgrade to one of the JJ OS-es?

Hope someone can help me.

I don't believe the f2 click option is available with external analog recording, I would have seen it if it was.
f2 -click is only available while recording a midi sequence (at least as far as I know and in stock Akai OS).

Isn't it possible to record an audio track while the sequencer is running in the pay versions of JJOS? Haven't tried it myself but sounds like it would work.

With JJOS (check your version to confirm this. At least works in 2XL) you can record in the record-mode while your sequence is playing in the background. And similarly recording directly to Audio-track works as well.

One workflow option would be to set metronome to "Yes" for "In Play". Go to Record-mode. Set threshold so that recording actually starts when you start to play (not due to some noise). Hit "play/start"-button. You should now hear metronome and/or stuff you've sequenced. Hit record. Now it waits for you to play. Do your thing 'n that's it

Just plug in your guitar (if it got audio out) into analog in. In JJOS 1 4.99L you just switch to Audio, and boom you got 8 tracks to record your guitar to. I wouldn't worry too much about how you play the guitar since the sample is stored in RAM ready to be sliced up.
