Just got my MPC1000 shipped in today! Paid 500 for it, black back with the new pads. 128mb sound card. :) Came in box and everything I can't even find a scratch on it.

Very nice man! I haven't found a need for the hard drive but Bliprock is definitely right about JJOS.

I love my 1000...

Im downloading and installing JJOS right now. Its gonna take awhile to figure out.

Does the 128mb card come with the mpc stock?

I'll buy the ram if I ever come across the need for it. I will mostly be using it as a drum machine so thats the main role it will play when I write. Im downloading some vintage drum machines right now.

JJOS 3.12 Installed

When I loaded the MPC it looks like there are already akai xr-10. tr-808 909 samples already loaded onto it.

Check the load menu for autoload settings and/or CF card for "autoload"-folder.

I think that very soon you may run out of memory:) I have non akai branded RAM (100% working and very cheap).

Hard drive is very useful, but not necessary.

Definitely get extra ram, stock mpcs only have 16mb.
But DO NOT buy the official akai ram. DO NOT.
There are topics on this forum about normal unofficial ram you can buy that works perfectly fine. I got an equivalent RAM board for like $30, when the akai one costs like $150.

HD, not as neccessary, I'm doing fine without one. But definitely get a bigger flash card.

+1 to that ^^^

I think I got my RAM for £7 on eBay. If I can find out who I got it off I will oblige you with a link. Just stick a mighty beast CF card in there and you're good to go.

I seen theres a 128 mb Ram for $16, and the official Akai is 110$, thats ~C~r!A~z~Y
and a 4gb CF for $17 8gb for 28$

Im mostly going to be using this for a drum machine so I dont know what I need or what would be overkill yet, but I can afford to drop 30 on an upgrade like that.

Is there anywhere that sells the wood side panels for less than 55? I know I could make them but I don't feel like it.

Still gettin used to it, ive downloaded a few drum samples off the internet. Im kindve glad I studied drums on a real set and the various rhythms/grooves before I bought this. Been trying out the samples and recording sequences.

I see some brands of 256mb ram but I thought I heard in a video that the MPC only reads one side of it anyway?

I found that the pad response was really quite poor with JJOS installed ? I had to change all the settings on the MP ??
