recording several tracks @ once / filtering midi-events

hi all!

I got my 1k just some weeks ago and I like it very much so far (to be honest, I'm actually more excited over my virus c I got some days after the 1k, this **** really sounds amazing, woahhhh...

however, I wonder how I can realize following two points:

how can I programm several tracks at once? when I programm a beat, I first use some basic elements like kicks, snares and hihats. I'ld like to assign each element (or pad/sample) to an own track to have the possibility to mute each element separately later, but I want to record it all @ once instead of recording first the kicks, then the hihats and so on to distribute them to different tracks. is there a way to assign the pads to different tracks before recording or can I at least split them later when recorded to the same track?

the second point is that I'ld like to filter some specific types of events. when I recorded for example a bassline and in a second step I recorded some modulation (eg filter) for the same, I'ld like to delete just the modulation (or the control-change midi events). can I filter them or do I really have to go through all events and delete each cc-midi-event apart?

do you know what I mean?

We've had this kinda discussion in different forms in the last few months, and the conclusion is that the MPC1000 will not record more than one Track at a time. It always records to the Active (selected) track on the Main screen. Makes no difference if you send it multichannel MIDI, it still goes to the Active track, subject to your Active Track Receive settings (Misc/MIDI).

In Step Edit, you can choose to View only certain event types e.g. CC. Then deleting those alone is easy, tho you might wear out the F4 button...

is it also possible to view in step edit only events concerning one specific sample/pad? this way I could record it all to one track, copy this track several times and delete in track 1 everything but the events playing kicks, in track 2 everthing but the hihats and so one... ?

I can't see a way to do that, I'm afraid.
That's a case of "prevention is better than cure" - if you need to process something separately, put it on a separate track if you can...

cant you just use the erase button to delete the unwanted parts from your multiply copied track? that seems like the quickest and least button pressing method even if the method you described works. . . .

It's easier that that...record your beat into 1 track. Then go to step edit mode, and "MOVE" only ceratin NOTE events to a new track, that way you can break your beat down to individual tracks for each part/sound.
