Everyone should read this now

Ok this is dicussed in lots of similar forums, but they are long and not very many people have read them or read the whole thing once they get too be a coupple pages. but here short and simple. everyone that doesnt want to be punked by akai with an 1000xl since we saved up our hard earned cash for a 1000 then somethign new comes out and blows us away and they could have fixed the problems in the os send akai and eamil right now. we all need to do this. everyone for real. tell them the updates you think should be in the os and what has been disscussed in other forums i knwo some have well do it again its time to take actiona nd stop complaing on the board and try to do something. the main features i want are zoning for sure but read the other forums get a list of five or six features adn send them it asking if they could please consider it and that a marketing plot like a 1000 then soon after a 1000xl is flat out retarded and a good way to use customers we mgiht get what we want.

You were reading my mind bigm. I was just talking about that to my boy that i do beats with and we were getting a list together. Cause everyone knows that we also need timestretch along with zoning.

Timestretch could be a bit far fetched.. lotta coding needed.. zoning on the other hand should be simple, and delay too..... ive sent four or five emails to akai about a simple delay.. all the time they say they'll forward it to some next department.. (of which you get no feedback)

I'm going to shoot them an e-mail. You would think that they would want to make their existing customers as happy as possible; if you look at it, a happy customer is really just free advertisement. Can you imagine what a potential customer would think if they stumbled into these forums and read our complaints...I would certainly think twice about dropping that much coin. You would think that they would want to shut us up by giving us the features that we want...especially some of the simple features that appear on some of their older machines. The features I really want in order of preference are: 1) track velocity 2) zoning 3) adjusting event time in step edit...I don't think that this is too large of a request. I don't care if they release an MPC 1KXL as long as they include some features that are actually NEW instead of features that should have been standard on this machine. It took me eight months to decide that I wanted to spend this much money on one piece of equipment...I know that $850 may not be much to some people but to me it definitely is...so for them to say "be happy with the MPC you bought for less than a $1000" is a slap in the face and will definitely cause me to think twice before I invest that much money in Akai again.

i doubt theyll do anything, the whole purpose of the mpc 1000 is to cut back on features that you can do with your computer and lower the price,if you want those features,then you dont want a mpc 1000, you want a mpc 2000xl,sorry,ill be happy if they at least get the bugs out of the existing os

I have spoken to a tech at Akai on the phone about the lack of the "Zone/Slice" feature from the 2000, and from his own words, he said to comtact them with any issues, ideas, bug, os releated, thing to add/improve.

Food for thought: Maybe folks here on the board might come up with some releastic requests that we might be able to send to Akai's R&D depart for future improvements. Just a thought, as I'm really not one who should ask for anything, as I haven't really gotten to deep into mine, but everyday has been good.

I have to emphatically and completely disagree with you. If the MPC200xl and the 1000 were the same price, I would still want the MPC1000. It can play 24 programs simultaneously. It is small. It has more memory, internally and externally. And no more zips or floppies. It has great potential to be the box to beat for a long time.
As referenced in another post on here, AKAI improving the OS is a win win for them. Happy long term returning customers, good word of mouth, better sales, more profits. I see no reason why they don't right their wrongs (ala the 2000 to 2000xl switch).
Considering they were just bought by Numark for US distribution, I'm hoping for some good news regarding some simple, minimum programming enhancements.

At the top of your lists should be bug fixes, the sounds not playing, weird editing bugs, memory card failures etc.

It can't hurt to give them requests, it'll be better if they have them than if they don't.

I emailed them...got a crappy response...sent another reply...I'll post it when he replies

everyone who gives a ish please take 15 mins out of your day and send an e-mail...too many dissatisfied customers is a huge problem...

On another note...phuck a zip drive and only 32mb ram...if the 2000XL read CF cards and was expandable to 128mb then maybe there would be an argument...the fact is, this is a newer machine, then why the loss of technology...if I knew that I needed to buy the MPC 1000 and ReCycle in order to work efficiently then I might keep quiet

is track velocity adjustability really too much to ask for in a sequencer that costs almost $1000 by the time you get the 128mb ram?

is zoning really too much to ask for?

i sent mine right away and got an email today about forwarding it to there research and development, but for real people everyone should do this it isnt that much to ask for and can help and that point about word of mouth by happy customers is an excellant thing to put in an email to them, i also suggested if they were just trying to make money they could at least have like a 50 dollar download fee for added features that way wed be happy and they would make money if thats what they are after if the mpc 1000xl myth is true. but this is just my two cents and if we take all of our two cents and add thatt s**t up then well have a lot of damn cents haha. but please send email if you care.

the budget price justifys the loss of technology,and if u have a pc,there is no loss of technology

honestly, they had the computer in mind to take up most of the slack on the 1000. so i doubt they are gonna spend anytime adding zoning, or any other features they feel can be accomplished via computer.

and would it be sooo surprising for akai to drop a 1000xl? akai are the kings of stringing along their customers for as much money as they can get. just look at how they always make stuff propietary to akai and then of course since you HAVE to buy stuff from them they charge out the ass (examples: memory, 50 pin scsi on older mpcs, laptop harddrive for 1000 if they ever actually release it is a weird akai format as well). akai is not the first company, or the last, to do this but it still sucks. even just looking at the price of an akai memory upgrade, when you can actually buy the non akai memory upgrade for half the price shows you they are going to pimp us.

so them releasing a 1000xl with all the features we are wishing we had now is not surprising at all. all our sugggestions are probalby just being added to a list of suggestions for a 1000xl in their eyes.

in the end it pretty much depends on whether you want to deal with all that crap.

and you notice the only feature that they REALLY immediately jumped on to fix in an os update was the clicking problem on the end of mono samples. and that was only cause it was a serious malfunction. for the most part the os updates are just to fix whatever serious issues they realize. i dont really see them adding features with the os updates at all.

hopefully i'm wrong. but even if they would just add the ability to move events in step edit (WHICH IS A BASIC THING THAT THEY COULD PROBALBLY CODE IN AN HOUR) i would be shocked. but i doubt even that will happen. they don't care about adding to the 1000, as much as they care about stopping serious negative issues with the 1000 so they can continue to sell as many units as possible.


it cant hurt to send an email though.
at least if they dont add to the 1000, you can make sure the 1000xl wil have that feature.
