Factory sequences not loaded, Hd not recognized by usb

Hello,

This is happening out of the blue on my MPC1000. Factory sequences and programs are not loaded on boot. Factory programs are still there with all the samples but I'm not able to find the factory sequences. My personal files and sequences are ok. I'm using A 40gb hd. I am able to save and load sequences, programs and everything else. But, if I connect the usb cable to a pc (I've tried different pcs and different os and even different usb cables) the hard disk is not recognized. The pc recognizes the usb interface but not the hard disk. Everything was working fine before and I've made no changes. I switched on my MPC one day and it started to behave like that. I did'nt even move the MPC.
Any ideas?

anyone? Should I try a factory reset? Can I take off the hd and connect it to the pc via a ide docking station and be able to import and export sequences, programs and samples?

When you are connecting the usb to a pc are you going to the save/load menu, pressing "USB" then pressing "mount"?
