used mpc1000 with 128 ram

+

stanton t.52

+

just under 40 vinyls

for 800.

im dying to buy a mpc.. i also need a vinyl player.. i was hoping to nab a mpc for 300-400 off of ebay and a vinyl for 100 somewhere... so do you think the stanton and the 40 vinyls are worth the other 400 i am dishing out?

thats a really crappy turntable. a used technics is about $400. given that, i would say that turntable is worth about $30.

who knows what the records are?
records are cheap, and your collections is very personal. who wants somebody else's record collection (unless its really good)?

i would wait til you can find an mpc1k for 4-500 and then a record player - check the pawn shops / thrift stores / garage sales.

try not to be 'dying' to buy anything ... that's how you end up making poor decisions. the right opportunity will present itself at the right time.

And there you go, no need to pm me this same thing asking for my immediate attention just because you have a few hours to buy it. You'll get more responses and advice here.

hmm thanks tapedeck..i have been looking and i have just found another option.

someone is willing to sell it for 300... i have to go check it out but to be honest im so new to this stuff i have no idea what to check for.. they said all the pads n buttons were fine and it was barely used. but it doesnt come with any memory card.

im thinking the price is low enough that even if i need to repair anything itll still be a good deal.

at $300 thats a pretty good attitude.

if it has the 'old pads' you will have to upgrade those for about $100.

if it has the stock os and you want jj, that is another ~$100.

a memory card is cheap not going to cost a lot.

Mate, if you can get one cheap its worth it. I got mine in pretty cruddy condition, it had obviously been dropped face down and had crap spilt on it and all sorts. Took it apart, replaced the pads, screen, one side panel, cleaned it up, did the SSD mod and installed J.J. OS, all for less than half the price of a new one, and now it works better than a new one and has more of a personal feel. Most jobs are pretty easy - there's plenty of tips on here if you use search function + youtube vids from mpc stuff (http://www.youtube.com/user/mpcstuff) and nym (http://www.youtube.com/user/nymantics)... It can be done!!

Just seen, price for a 1000 brand new in the UK has come down to £499! Thats about $600 new, so check google shopping results and stuff, you might be able find a new one for that.

You spent ALMOST how much I spent on my murdered-out/maxxed 2500 + 303 + 404 + one of my 4.5 kg/cc torque direct drive TT.

That said, you bought helluva machine homeboy, I hope it's brand-new with full warranty. You took that route, now stick to it ad don't look back in anger.

JUST USE IT AND HAVE A LOT OF FUN.

i jus gotta figure out how i wanna customize it now.. suggestions?

the pic he has up is pretty powerful

or i was gonna go the opposite direction n get something like this.

also on a more Technical note.....

my dad has an old technics sl-1600... i alreaddy know its an amazing vinyl player but will it be able to connect to a prephono amp or dj mixer?

if it would that would be very convenient for me as i am now officially broke.

PROPS for your TT, you're right: that would be perfect.

Normally it goes as follows:

SL=>(PREAMP or MIXER)=>MP

BUT PROBABLY YOUR ANSWER TO THE NEXT QUESTION WILL BE YES.

Do the TT come with an AMP or connected to some kind of HI-FI?

Should this be the case, just run a cable from the AMP (TAPE OUT) to your MP (RECORD IN): you'll be safe...

On the cosmetics I'm less than a good advisor for you. I would never wait to replace working parts for more aestetically pleasant ones... just because I cannot conceive stop producing for the time needed to replace them.

And as you said, now you're broke, so you cannot buy MORE useful gear.

On the good side (3 sides to every story, as you know...) you will focus on the 1K, which is always better than have UNUSED gear around at the beginning.
