SPLICE is not working- any suggestions...

Hey Everyone:

I want to chop my sample but I am unable to because the SPLICE option is not appearing at the button F5 after I go into the TRIM mode.... Does anyone know how to get the SPLICE to work. This is my first MPC and first major problem as I figure this thing out...
