Quick data wheel use

Is there a way to speed up the data wheel when spinning through a large sample bank?

Bought mine last week...damn funky easy machine, pissing all over my previous work.

yeah when in trim mode select start point or end point. hit shift + left cursor to change amounts in tenths, hundredths, thousandths, etc.

works wonders...

Though can you make the data wheel faster when spinning through samples when building a program?

No - but how many samples do you have loaded at once? You could cut back, remove extra Programs and Purge unnecessary samples while building one specific program...

one of my 1k set ups has over 1,000 samples on it and i tell you, trying to assign a new sample to a program in the MPC and i enter a sort of zen-like trance...watching these file names fly past..... it's quite spooky how often i stop almost bang on the one i want.

I mean delete - from RAM - any unnecessary Programs, then use the Purge function to remove the now-unnecessary samples. Then load up only the samples you want to use in the Program. Less scrolling through samples you don't need.

This assumes you've saved everything you want to the CF card first. Which is, I hope, blindingly obvious, given that the RAM is lost if the MPC loses power. Rule of Thumb: unless you've saved it, it doesn't exist, it's a ghost that could vanish at any time.

Thats a shame that you can't wizz through loads at once cos purging them is only worth it once you've mixed it down.

Not sure where the mixdown comes in to it. When you've saved a Program and its associated Samples to CF, you don't need to keep them in RAM unless you're actively using them. Which you're not doing when you're busy creating another Program with different samples?
Ah well, it will all come out in the wash, as my mum used to say...
