sampling while playing a sequence

people

can any mpc1000 users answer me this simple question. i currently own a mpc2000 and this is how I work.

once i record a riff or bassline using my keyboard into the mpc using midi i then sample the riff/bassline into soundforge on my pc. i then edit the sample, save it as a wav file and put it on a zip disk to transfer it into my mpc2000.

i have to do this long winded routine as the mpc2000 cannot sample while playing a sequence.

what i want to know is - can the mpc1000 sample the outputs of my keyboard/synth while it is playing a sequence. so i can play the riff i've just recorded as midi and sample it into the mpc1000 as audio at the same time.

i hope i've explained myself properly.

any help would be most appreciative as this is a major reaosn for me wanting to upgrade from a 2000 to a 1000.

According to Akai, moving from 2k -> 1k is a DOWNGRADE. Many features lost, like MTC sync, filter envelopes, chromatic programs, timeslice, timestretch, and even sequence editing features.

However, it can sample while playing, including resampling itself.

YEs you can do it. But before you buy one do some research into the 1k on this forum.

thanks guys for confirming that. i won't be changing my 2k for a while. have any of you guys owned a 2k? if so would you say changing to a 1k is a bakward move?
