Before I buy the 1000, I have a question about chopping samples

when chopping samples, is it possible to set the start point for each chop, and extract each chop so that the end doesnt stop exactly where the next chop is suppose to start?

EX: Chop 3's start point is set at 02.440

Is is possible to let Chop 2 play about past 02.440? So that i could let Chop2 play out a bit, instead of stopping on a dime?

sorry if this is hard to understand, if needed, i'll try to explain better

Also "normal" chopping allows you to set "release" value for all chops.

F**k JJOS...

Yes its possible. In the regular Akai OS, When you have your sample and you want you to chop it up in 1/8 or 1/16, you can use the auto chop. As long as the loop is on point, you should have 16 even samples, but you have the option to go and edit the start and end point of each sample. It also helps to mess around with playing with the poly/mono settings.

Those aren't overlapping chops now are they.

The only way to easily do that in Akai OS is to set a bit of release when extracting the whole sample to sliced samples. You can also extract individual chops easily and just adjust the end-point to your liking (akai & jjos). What this guy means is the extract function.

It's a basic function u can find in the original OS and all the JJOS versions.
With this function u can select a part of a sample and extract it as a new sample, leaving the original intact. This way u can extract an unlimited number of samples out of the original one, setting the start and end points wherever you wish for each individual sample.

i appreciate the replies fellas, now i know for sure.

1 more thing, are you able to let sounds play through the 4 extra outs AS your are working on a beat, or ONLY when you're in the mixer screen?

can you assign sounds to the 4 extra outs and then go back to the main screen and continue working on the track live? or will sound only output through the 4 extra outs WHILE you are in the mixer screen??

Once routed to one of the assignable outs, the track(s) will of course be outputted to the out you have assigned it (them) to..

Does the 1000 only have four assignable outs?? The 2500 has eight..

Note that the assignable outs are mono. For stereo signals you will obviousley need two of the outs..
So you either have 4 mono outs or 2 stereo outs ... or a stereo and two monos..

And don't worry about the copping side... The MPCs are brilliant machines for chopping up samples.. Either use NDC or extract portions from ur Og sample.

But what sampler doesn't allow that more less?
I would also think that non-destructive is what he"s actually looking for.

This makes it seem like extraction:
