I got my 1000 last week and i just had a few questions. It comes standard with 16mb memory that can be extended to 128. How would extend it besides sending to akai. You think that shops would do it like guitar center. And anyone know about how much it would be? Nother thing.. anyone know how to change the sample tuning but keep the tempo of the sample? I heard it was possible. I dont know if its possible on 1000 but it still be good to know. Anyone get back at me plz. Take it easy

To change the pitch but keep the tempo, or change the tempo but keep the pitch: that means timestretching. The MPC1000 can't do that on board, but there is a free PC/Mac audio editor called Audacity that does it very nicely: see http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

Fitting the memory is real easy and should give you no trouble if you can undo a couple of screw and keep yourself grounded (no static allowed). I bought the Akai part, for an easy life.
