I am trying to chop a sample & save as sliced samples but it is saying insufficient memory. I have the 128 MB upgrade, as well as a 120gb internal hard drive that is empty & a 2gb flash card that is empty. Can someone help me figure this out please?

hard drive and flash card have nothing to do with memory... only RAM is your memory... you obviously must have sampled something huge [close to 128MB] and now that you're trying to save it as pieces, you're all out of space..... try sampling something shorter rather than something 15 minutes long

There is a difference between RAM and storage memory.

In this case, you have ran out of memory. This means that you already have too many samples loaded up in RAM, or that your sample is too long to be sliced. Note that when you use the chop function it actually makes a sliced COPY of the original one.

Also make sure the RAM is installed properly. The mpc screen should something like '128mb RAM installed' or something.

Same thing for the disk drive. Not every drive is suitable for the MPC.

In case things are still unclear I'd suggest to check the manual on this.

Ok thanks, I believe I figured it out. The RAM is installed properly & so is my hard drive. I know the Memory error was talking about my RAM but I just wanted to clarify my situation. Also, I would refer to the manual, except I'm running jjos2xl so the manual is no good to me. I had to find the "Purge" function which was hidden. Also, the song I was chopping was 4 mins. It was too large even when I deleted the sample memory. I had to cut it down. But thanks!
